In the article “Developing Sustainable Infrastructure in New cities’,
Cho (2014) claims that infrastructure in cities need to continuously upgrade
despite having many ‘urban challenges’ These obstacles are faced in new cities such as King Abdullah
Economic City (KAEC). A group of students along with the author formed a research
group in Saudi Arabia known as the KAEC fellowship to assess the challenges and
to see what companies are doing to overcome them. KAEC fellowship has encompassed the Envision
rating system and will award prestigious awards such as Infrastructure 360
award to companies who meets the stringent requirements. The author also states
that a well-planned project will strengthen the community as many of our work
and social environment revolves heavily around infrastructures.

Hi Greg,
ReplyDeleteAfter reading through your summary, I feel that your summary is floating and there is not impact, maybe it will be better to go in-depth to the challenges faced and how the Envision rating system is being carried out. At the same time, it would be better if you could insert a few examples of the companies that are being awarded for the prestigious awards in order to give me a better understanding.
Cheers!
Hi Greg,
ReplyDeleteYour summary lacks the important information from what the title is trying to tell you. The title of every article should give you a gist of what the contents are going to talk about. You missed the important points such as "what are the key ideas or guidelines companies have to focus on to develop a sustainable infrastructure", "why is there a need for sustainable infrastructures?" or "how does it help at a larger scale?" You briefly gave the example of "urban challenges", but what are the challenges? Some of the points did not link very well. If you could highlight clearer on your points to state the organisations involved or with the challenges, it could have gave me a better understanding of the entire summary.
Hope it helps! :)
